Welcome to Montgomery County, Mississippi!
Last Updated: Saturday, October 25, 2008
Welcome to the Montgomery County, Mississippi page, a part of the MSGenWeb and USGenWeb Project to provide free, on-line genealogical resources.
Montgomery County is located in North Central Mississippi approximatley 100 miles south of Memphis, Tennessee and 100 miles north of the State Capital in Jackson, Mississippi.
Surrounding counties are Grenada to the north, Carroll to the west, Attala to the south, and Choctaw and Webster to the
east. Carroll and Choctaw counties are particularly important
to Montgomery County researchers as early records prior to the county's formation in 1871 will be located in either of those counties. I strongly urge anyone researching their roots in Montgomery
County to check out the MSGenWeb sites of the surrunding counties:
I have recently taken over this site from long-time coordinator, Jo Castillo, who has faithfully served the USGenWeb
Project for many years. Thanks Jo!
I am a long time amateur genealogist who has lived in Montgomery County
for over 20 years and am excited about being able to help people researching their roots in
our county. I am in the process of getting all of the old and some new information organized
and have plans to transcribe and add new databases. Please check back often as I
make updates and additions to this site. Remember, this site belongs to all of us researching our roots in Montgomery County, so feel free to offer any suggestions for information you
would like to see added. Contributions and help transcribing databases would be greatly appreciated! Check under "Projects" for Montgomery County to see projects currently being undertaken
and offer suggestions of ones you might be willing to take on!

Added listing of funeral homes I have found in Montgomery County.
Added a Biography History Project form in PDF format that can be downloaded and e-mailed or USPS mailed.
Added the enlistment rolls for servicemen and women from Montgomery County for World War I and World War II.
Added information on Duck Hill
Train Wreck - October 19, 1862.
Have begun adding Montgomery
County Monthly Meeting Minutes beginning in 1885. These are
in PDF format and are images and therefore not searchable,
however, they contain great information on the early founders of
the town. In later years, they added newspaper clippings to
the minutes. There are many books so it will take me some
time to get them all imaged and online, however, I have Minute
Book 1 from March 13, 1885 to September 4, 1894 completed and
online.
